From 611b54fefc8a02f67cd59041c1795a083ac0bb4c Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: eunhhu Date: Wed, 30 Sep 2026 13:19:01 +0100 Subject: Show what would act on a screen as a picture on every surface, and keep a value's bidi within it Speech wrote a value's C1 controls (U+009B is a CSI to some terminals), DEL, line separators and bidi overrides as they were; the CLI and the TUI wrote line separators (a pipe's reader may break its line there) and the controls that turn text around (a terminal then reverses the rest of its line, other values' cells too); the web page showed controls as they were and let a label's override reverse its badge. Now every surface shows controls, DEL, C1 and line and paragraph separators as pictures (vega_visible); a terminal's cells show embeddings, overrides and isolates as U+FFFD too (vega_cell); speech says a space for the one and nothing for the other; the page shows the pictures and isolates each value, while /screen's JSON keeps values as they are. screen_meaning checks the CLI, the TUI, speech and the JSON against that rule, and that nothing a value holds reaches any output as a control; the browser check sees the page show it. --- tests/check.py | 96 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++-- 1 file changed, 94 insertions(+), 2 deletions(-) (limited to 'tests/check.py') diff --git a/tests/check.py b/tests/check.py index 7bb4c41..4f87d20 100644 --- a/tests/check.py +++ b/tests/check.py @@ -493,7 +493,7 @@ class WebSurface: def browser(vega, module, work): - """The page in headless Chromium: keys, a click on a row, typed text.""" + """The page in headless Chromium: keys, a click on a row, typed text, a value holding controls.""" import shutil if not shutil.which('node') or not shutil.which('chromium'): return 'skipped' @@ -507,7 +507,8 @@ def browser(vega, module, work): outcome = json.loads(result.stdout) assert result.returncode == 0 and outcome['ok'], outcome after = run(vega, 'cli', module, '--store', store, stdin='show
').stdout.splitlines() - assert after == ['To do', 'left: 3 of 4', 'tasks_list (4)', ' a [done] (muted)', ' b', ' c', '> 브라우저'], after + assert after == ['To do', 'left: 4 of 5', 'tasks_list (5)', ' a [done] (muted)', ' b', ' c', ' 브라우저', + '> esc ␛[31m sep ␤ rlo .'], after return len(outcome['steps']) @@ -1807,6 +1808,96 @@ def shared_board(serve, module, work): stop(name) return {'cards': len(together), 'after_joining': len(joined)} +SCREEN_APP = """use vega +record Line { + t: text +} +state lines: list of Line +state at: index of lines +input add = text +input up = key ArrowUp +input down = key ArrowDown +on add { + lines.append(Line { t: add }) +} +on up.down { at = at - 1 } +on down.down { at = at + 1 } +view lines_list = each l in lines { + label = l.t +} +view lines_list_focus = at.position +""" +# What would act on a screen instead of being shown: escape sequences, C0 and C1 controls, DEL, line and paragraph +# separators, the controls that turn text around (embeddings, overrides, isolates); and what is shown as it is. +SCREEN_TEXTS = ['plain', 'esc \x1b[31mred\x1b[0m \x1b]0;title\x07', 'csi8 ›31m c1', 'nel … x', 'del \x7f x', + 'nul \x00 bell \x07', 'tab nl
x\rcr', 'sep
 x
 y', 'rlo ‮ abc', 'lre ‪ x ‬', + 'isolate ⁨abc⁩', 'rlm ‏ x', 'zwj \U0001f469‍\U0001f4bb', 'bom ', '한글 שלום', + 'trail \x01 '] + + +def screen_visible(c): + """As Vega's vega_visible: a control as its picture, a C1 control as U+FFFD, a line or paragraph separator as U+2424.""" + n = ord(c) + return (chr(0x2400 + n) if n < 0x20 else '␡' if n == 0x7f else '' if 0x80 <= n < 0xa0 else + '␤' if n in (0x2028, 0x2029) else c) + + +def screen_cell(c): + """As vega_cell: in a terminal's cell, the controls that turn text around as U+FFFD too.""" + n = ord(c) + return '' if 0x202a <= n <= 0x202e or 0x2066 <= n <= 0x2069 else screen_visible(c) + + +def screen_meaning(vega, aup, work): + """A value is shown within its place, as itself, on every surface; what + would act on the screen instead is shown as a picture (the CLI and the + TUI's cells), said as a space or not at all (speech), and kept as it is + in the web surface's JSON, whose page shows the pictures and keeps each + value's bidi within it.
